Here at Ariel we are dedicated to helping children and adults live and thrive in their communities. We are a collection of committed, positive, creative individuals that believe in the inherent worth of every child and adult. We are committed to high standards of care, clearly demonstrated knowledge and good communication with all team members. We want each child, adult, foster parent, host home, case worker and contracting authority to feel valued and genuinely supported by our services.
Ariel Clinical Services was founded in 1994 in Grand Junction, Colorado. We are a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) Child Placement Agency and Adult Service Agency and provide an array of services for children, families, and adults. We are currently the third largest Child Placement Agency in the state serving approximately 200 children in foster care. We serve approximately 100 adults with developmental disabilities at all three of our locations.
Ariel Clinical Services was started by Kregg Thornburg, a special education teacher in Mesa County. Kregg had a passion and commitment to children that others found difficult to manage. He loved to think outside the box and take a creative approach to helping kids challenged by their life circumstances. Kregg’s drive to help these children led him to the therapeutic foster care model and the beginning of Ariel Clinical Services. Kregg passed away in 2003 of Lou Gehrig’s disease but his legacy lives on today. Ariel has expanded their services to included serving adults with developmental disabilities and other unique programs to help children and families thrive.
Ariel Clinical Services serves children and adults statewide and has four offices in Grand Junction, Delta, Wheat Ridge and Colorado Springs. We have foster homes and host homes in several communities along the Western Slope and Front Range. We work closely with several large and small counties and Community Center Boards.
