Witherspoon began modeling and appearing in TV commercials at the age of 7, but she made her acting debut in 1991's "The Man in the Moon," playing a 14-year-old tomboy in the Southern drama.
Her first role lead to bigger parts, including roles in 1993 in "Jack the Bear" with Danny DeVito and the Disney movie "A Far Off Place."
In 1996, she co-starred with Alyssa Milano and Mark Wahlberg in the thriller "Fear."
