Jennifer Lawrence was born in Louisville, Ky., on Aug. 15, 1990.
When she was 14 she spent a summer in New York to begin her acting career. She landed some small roles in commercials and films.
Lawrence’s family moved to Los Angeles so she could further her career.
Before beginning her acting career Lawrence was involved in cheerleading, field hockey and softball.
In 2007 she was cast on the sitcom “The Bill Engvall Show,” and she played in the movie “The Poker House” in 2008.
She also earned a role in “The Burning Plain” in 2008.
In 2010 Lawrence’s career got a jump start when she was cast in “Winter’s Bone.”
Her role as Ree earned her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.
She is the third-youngest actress to ever be nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a leading role.
She went on to play in “Like Crazy” in 2011.
Lawrence also starred in “The Beaver” in 2011.
Lawrence played Mystique in the blockbuster hit “X-Men: First Class” in 2011.
She landed perhaps her biggest role yet when she was cast at Katniss Everdeen of the blockbuster hit “The Hunger Games.”
“The Hunger Games” earned more than $400 million in the U.S. to become one of the highest-grossing movies ever.
Lawrence will also star in the sequel, “Catching Fire,” that is expected to hit theaters in Nov. 2013.
In 2012, Lawrence also starred in “House At The End Of The Street."
Lawrence starred alongside Bradley Cooper in “Silver Linings Playbook.”
Her portrayal of Tiffany earned Lawrence the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
Her performance also earned her the Oscar for Best Actress.
This marked her second Oscar nomination and her first win.
