Pattinson began acting in amateur plays with the Barnes Theatre Company when he was 15.
He went on to play roles in movies including "How To Be" and "Little Ashes," in which he portrayed Salvador Dali.
Pattinson's first major role was in 2005's "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." He played Cedric Diggory.

"Pattinson was one of thousands of men who applied for the role of Edward Cullen in "Twilight."
Pattinson secured the role when he and Kristen Stewart, who was already cast as Bella Swan, had chemistry during his audition.
He said during his audition he decided to portray Edward as sensitive and pained since he knew Bella was a strong female character.

He landed a starring role in "Water For Elephants" as Jacob in 2011.
