The VA Medical Center and the Glacier Ice Arena teamed up to bring sled ice hockey to Grand Junction.
This is the first time the sport is being brought to the Western Slope.
"I don't even know if it's so much sled hockey as it is the camaraderie, the exercise, the fun," Veteran Dan Hendrix says. "It's a good time. we had able body. we had people with disabilities out here. everybody was just having a blast"
The hope is to start a league in the near future.
"I think it can grow. I think we can get a lot more people, a lot more veterans," VA Supervisor of Recreation Therapy Matt Lucas says. "I know the Veterans that came, they loved it. there are guys telling me we got to do this more often now."
