HS Football: Fruita Monument staying level headed

The Fruita Monument Wildcats haven’t played at home since the 6th of October, but over the last two weeks they have picked up their most impressive wins of the year so far.

Headed into last Friday the Wildcats were facing their biggest test of the season taking on 6-1 Standley Lake, but Fruita had no problems with the gators taking them out 42-8.

They jumped out to the early 28-0 lead at the half and led 42-0 after three quarters.

The win for the Wildcats made them now 8-0 on the season and they moved up to ranked 4th in the Class 4A rankings released on Monday.

But for now the wildcats are only worried about their ranking at the end of the season.

"Regardless of where we are rankings wise or whatever the case may be, we know that there are 4 or 5 teams out there that are really good. So were not even talking so much about whom we are playing on Friday as much as were talking about us and what we need to do better, “said head coach Todd Casebier.
