Grand Junction will host Greeley West in the first round of the 5A state tournament on Thursday night.
The Tigers enter as the No. 8 seed.
The team has been red-hot winning seven of their last nine including a 10-0 win over Central last week.
"I think we have experience this year," head coach Jonathan Pando says. "We have a lot of older boys who have been in the program. They're seniors and they've all been playing together in club so they have a lot of chemistry together. It's one of the major reasons why I think we've been pretty successful this year. "
The Tigers' playoff runs have been short-lived in recent memory. They've suffered first-round exits every year since 2014.
But according to them this year will be much different.
"All around I think every kid on the team is pretty tough," senior midfielder Jak Chaffetz says. "I just think we have all the components needed to make a deep run just with skills and effort and everything. So we're a lot more focused than the past years I think."
