Josh King was an assistant under former head coach Ryan Hayden for the past five seasons.
Thursday night he'll get his shot at the helm of the Warriors.
"He's really stressing offense, making sure that we run things right," junior guard Ryan Kirby says. "He's really stressing pushing the floor hoping we get to the post. If not, we'll struggle this year. But I'm looking forward to it."
Central will open up the season against Gateway.
The Warriors have a good amount of players from a junior varsity team that went 16-8 last season.
"These guys have kind of figured out what we're trying to do," King says. "So now it's just a matter of gelling, running all the offenses that we're trying to run, working through the different things we want to do defensively and really just getting repetitions."
Tip off is set for 6;30 P.M. from the Warrior Challenge at Central.
