CMU football will travel on the road to take on Dixie State on Saturday. The Mavs are coming off a 49-37 win over Black Hills State.
"The whole defense is excited for this opportunity," senior linebacker Carlos Aviles says. "Last week against Black Hills they passed a lot. They spread the linebackers out. We were mostly just out the box and playing the run from the outside. This time we're excited to get out there and bang some heads a little bit. And show some guys how hard we really hit."
CMU was up 49-17 before giving up 20 unanswered fourth quarter points.
The Mavs can't afford to do that this time around.
"Offensively they are probably the most downhill team we will face this year," head coach Russ Martin says. "Pueblo loved to run the football. They were running powers and counters and stuff. These guys just come right at you with the inside zone, the isolation play. It'll be a different challenge for our guys. They're still going to take some shots on the perimeter. But they've added some RPO's into their offense as well."
Kickoff is set for 1 P.M. on Saturday.
