CMU Softball: Surface throws no-hitter in Mavs sweep

After having their home opener pushed back a day, Colorado Mesa softball finally took to the field on Sunday afternoon in RMAC play sweeping a double header over the Chadron State Eagles.

In game one junior McKenzie Surface threw a 14 strikeout no-hitter to help lead the Mavericks to a 6-0 win. With the win the junior runs her record to 7-0 on the campaign.

That was CMU's first no-hitter since April 24th, 2010.

In game two it was another junior in the circle. Kimbri Herring took the ball and had a career high 9 strikeouts as they Mavs picked up the 11-1 win in just six innings.

Colorado Mesa will look for the series sweep on Monday with another double header at 11:00 A.M , and 1:00 P.M.
