CMU junior Grant Olinger has had a great 2017 thus far.
""I'd say I'm pretty aggressive," Olinger says. "If I'm able to reach a par 5 I'm going to. I don't really think about the consequences.
It's a strategy that has worked out for him. Olinger won a pair of amateur tournaments in the summer before finishing second in the Rocky Mountain Open. He hadn't won any major events until then.
"There is no questioning that his swing is the best one I've seen in a long time," head coach Matt Ward says. "He's got great tempo. His mechanics are right on. He really does have a steady game from tee to green."
Olinger finished 5th and 21st in two CMU events this season.
"Grant has the potential to be the best golfer to ever walk through here," Ward says. "I don;t say that lightly. We've had All-Americans and we've had guys who are really, really solid players. Grant could certainly turn pro when he's done and do very well at it."
