MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KJCT) -- They say the yoga studio is a place for serenity, and calmness. Here in the Valley, it’s also a place for support, and creating relationships with others who become a second family.
The yoga community rallied together Sunday to show love and support for one of their own, who is suffering from stage 4 breast cancer.
As Connie Murillo travels through end stage cancer, her friends and yoga community hoped to do something that will leave a lasting mark for her family.
Sunday night, Yoga Vinyassa and Fruita Yoga hosted a fundraiser class, to raise money for her two boys and show support.
“I think it's part of human nature to do something good for another person, be at service,” said yoga instructor and friend of Murillo, Monica Cullinane. “Put this together to support her and her family in this moment of transition.”
The classes were open for anyone to attend. Mesa Theater also held an event, where all benefits went to Murillo.
