GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- Shop local and shop small was the motto of Saturday’s, Small Business Saturday event.
Around 25 small businesses from along the Western Slope set up shop at the Avalon and began selling their goods. Items ranging from health products, to make up, to stuffed animals were being sold.
Small business Saturday was put on by a fellow small business owner as a way to bring all local shops together.
“We've got to raise awareness for this and get people together and work as a community to help each other out,” said April Wade, who organized the event.
The event was open to the public and all businesses had to do was request to be part of the day, and pay a small fee.
Those who came by were also able to enter a drawing to win a basket of goodies showcased at the event.
This was a first time event, but Wade said she hopes it will continue in the future.
