Shovel your sidewalk...or get a ticket

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- If you haven’t shoveled your walk or driveway – you need to; otherwise you can be issued a ticket.

The Grand Junction Police Department said city codes state that the owner or occupant of any property in the city must maintain sidewalks.

Any accumulation of snow or ice must be removed within 24 hours of snowfall.

And police actually will fine you.

GJPD said their code enforcement officer is usually alerted by a neighbor. The person whose sidewalks are not shoveled will receive one warning and an extra day to take care of it.

If you don’t, you can receive a citation – fines start at $150.
