GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A man wanted on felony warrants in Utah is in custody after the car he was a passenger in crashed during a chase with law enforcement.

It happened just after 5 p.m. Friday in Grand Junction.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office said Brandon Pacheco, considered armed and dangerous, was spotted at the Rimrock Walmart Friday, and soon after sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a white sedan with Pacheco in it near the Mesa County Jail.

The car didn’t stop, and lead law enforcement on a chase that ended at 14th Street and White Avenue, where the car crashed into a minivan.

Elmina Shumway, from Grand Junction, who was driving the car with Pacheco in it, was taken to the hospital and is facing charges for running from law enforcement. Pacheco was treated for minor injuries.

A woman and two children were in the minivan, they suffered minor injuries as well, and one of the children was later taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies blocked in the sedan after the crash as a precaution.
