MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The Mesa County Sheriff's Office said it was investigating a report of shots fired Tuesday morning.

The call came in around 9:02 a.m. from the 500 block of 29 1/2 Road.

Two cars are believed to be involved, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office said investigators found no one had been hurt and there were no signs of a shooting.

Deputies said they have conflicting witness reports but believe a man wearing a bandana over his face got out of an older model white car and chased after someone with his gun. The car then took off, heading south on 29 1/2 Road.

Bookcliff Middle School was asked to shelter-in-place during the investigation. The school went back and forth between a full lockdown and a shelter-in-place for about an hour as investigators made sure the scene was clear.

That suspect is described as having short hair and dark colored clothing.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office.
