GJPD wants to help students make the right decisions

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Local police are reaching out to high school and college students and their parents to have discussions about making safe and smart decisions.

It will happen Thursday night at 6:30 at the Grand Junction Police Department at 555 Ute Avenue.

A 15-year veteran of the police department will talk about choices students sometimes face on a school's campus. A panel of local health care experts, school resource officers and other community members will be on hand to provide input and answer questions.

The police department said it's important to help students to recognize when serious situations arise. The goal is to help them make decisions that will keep them safe.
