Free lunch for military at CMU

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- CMU honored their veterans Friday with a free lunch for all active duty and retired military members.

The food service company Sodexo provides food for CMU's dining hall.

It's an annual event offering free food to those with a valid military I.D.

They started the day off with an American flag raising ceremony where they honored their veterans as a thank you for service and ongoing protection for our country.

"I think it's really good for the community to support us because that didn't always happen, so Vietnam era veterans they didn't get the support when they came back home and as an Iraq war veteran we had a lot of support coming home so that's nice,” said U.S. Iraq Army Veteran James Stulc.

Saturday morning the Starbucks on CMU's campus will be offering free coffee to active and veteran military members.
