GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- If you're a high school senior planning on going to college, you can start saving by applying for free this week.
Typically four-year colleges have an application fee ranging from $30 to $80.
The number of schools you apply to can really add up and that's why Colorado Mesa University counselors have offered to help students with their applications and wave the fee all week long.
15 colleges in Colorado and one in Arizona are jumping on board and offering free application submissions all week long.
"To apply for college early on is very important especially now that the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is available in the October season of the senior year where it used to be in the springtime,” said CMU’s assistant director of admission Mara Chilcote.
If you are interested in applying you have until October 8th to get those applications in.
Some community colleges have free applications all year.
