Free Flu Shots for Veterans at GJ VA hospital

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Veterans living on the Western Slope are entitled to free flu shots.
The VA Hospital in Grand Junction is offering free flu shots until demand dies down.

The VA said vets don't have to be enrolled with the hospital, but they do need proof of military discharge or work.

"If you are not getting the flu shot for yourself, get it for the people around you especially if you are in a home with small children or the elderly or someone who has a lung condition of some sort because those are the people that are at the most risk,” said Paul Sweeney, a spokesperson for the Grand Junction VA hospital.

The hospital said its flu clinic has seen about 200 people a day.

The VA will have a drive-thru clinic on October 21 and November 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
