GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- The Colorado Mesa University Women's Basketball team won't be having dinner with their families this Thanksgiving.
They're getting ready for two home games this weekend. Until then, they're working together to spend their free time focused on others, carving turkeys for the Salvation Army.
The team says it's only fair to give back to the community that gives to them, "They give us so much support," said Kylyn Rigsby, CMU Freshman Guard.
"They get a chance to get some turkey and spend it with their family, even if they can't afford it," said Ma'ata Epenisa, CMU Senior Forward.
The team is giving some thanks of their own too, they spoke about how grateful they are for their bond as a team and the trust that makes them feel like family.
Like sisters, they're goofing around too, until this Friday when it's back to business.
