GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- While warm weather is making it a tough winter for ski resorts, it’s actually been a good thing for the Colorado Department of Transportation.
CDOT says they've been shifting their attention from snow plowing and de-icing, to filling potholes and fixing road signs.
Usually, winter weather delays crews from working on these projects but this year, they're actually ahead of the game.
"The big benefit is getting all of these little projects out of the way that we normally don't have time to do, we are normally plowing snow this time of year but it's great being out here in a t-shirt in the middle of January,” said TM3 Supervisor for CDOT, Kenny Mackey.
Local managers said they've even been able to spare crews to send to Frisco to help with keep Interstate 70 clear on heavy snow days.
