Another Palisade orchard may become a subdivision

PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Palisade is already known for its peaches, but now we may see more neighborhoods taking root in place of an old orchard.

The Palisade board of trustees will be voting Tuesday on the potential rezoning of a plot of land near the high school on G Road. Right now, the seven acres of land is zoned as agriculture forestry transitional, but it might be changed to medium density residential.

"Originally this plot of land that will come before the council was a peach orchard for years and years and years, and when I was a child, the folks who owned it used to be my 3rd-grade teacher," said Roger Granat, Mayor of Palisade.

If approved, the Palisade Vineyards subdivision would be extended. The contractor is looking to add about 40 homes.
