Bear spends nearly 20 hours in tree, creates massive crowd

DELTA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- According to Delta Police, a bear spent nearly 20 hours in a tree off Main Street in downtown Delta Thursday.

They say the bear finally came down around 2 a.m. Friday and left the area.

He was not harmed, tranquilized or trapped.

The police were called to help control traffic because of the crowd of onlookers.

"It was probably one of the busiest times I’ve seen on Main Street in years just because of that, even parades and stuff I don't think drew that many people,” said owner of Modern Appliances, Jim Sukle.

Business owners tell us drivers were so distracted, there were several fender benders.
