GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. (KJCT) -- The Craig Daily Press reported that the Garfield County coroner has identified the driver killed in a one-car crash north of Rifle on May 8.

Troy D. Friar, 53, died in the crash at mile marker 15 of Highway 13.

The Colorado State Patrol said the crash occurred when Friar’s southbound pickup drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and then lost control. The truck crossed the northbound lane and off the road before running into an embankment.

CSP said Friar was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene.

An investigation and autopsy is underway and troopers said that drugs and alcohol are suspected as contributing to the crash.
