Local beer sales help conserve rivers

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- One local brewery is serving up a special beer, and it's one with a cause.

The amber ale from Many Rivers Brewing Company is now for sale across the Grand Valley.

What sets the new beer apart from all the other Colorado brews, is that 100 percent of the profits are donated to river conservation.

Tim Carlson, one of the founders of Many Rivers, has been working as an environmental engineer on the Western Slope for 15 years. He says western rivers have a special place in his heart.

“Making something that people love, and most importantly, it's recession proof. We can create a stream of funding to help these watersheds for the long term,” said Carlson.

Many Rivers doesn't have a physical location, so the beer is brewed at Kannah Creek Brewery.

Many Rivers is now being sold at Andy’s Liquor Store, Fishers Discount Liquor Mart, Country Club Liquors and Fun Junction, as well as Kannah Creek Brewery and Pablo’s Pizza.

Now, Carlson hopes to just keeping the suds flowing.
