GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- A local doctor is receiving recognition for his hard-work and dedication to working on treatments for multiple sclerosis.
Dr. Logan McDaneld, a neurologist at Saint Mary's Medical Center, received the Western Slope Partnership of the Year Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. It's given to doctors who continually work to support and help people living with MS.
Dr. McDaneld said even though MS is an incurable disease, it is treatable and new developments continue to be discovered.
“As a neurologist, MS has been a particularly gratifying world to work on because a lot of the rapid progress that has been made,” said Dr. Logan McDaneld. “It’s a real honor to be recognized by a patient population and a group that I enjoy working with so much. More than anything it's not an award for me it's for or entire staff and all that they do, because ultimately I could do, very little for the MS population by myself.”
Dr. McDaneld is also working to bring MS care to more patients in rural towns across the Western Slope.
