Traffic Alerts for the Week of Aug. 29

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The City of Grand Junction is reminding travelers of upcoming road projects that could impact your commute.

North Avenue Complete Streets Project - 12th Street to 23rd Street
-Project will require west bound lane closures between 9 pm and 11 am, Monday – Friday
-All businesses within the construction zone will be open for business as usual
-Anticipated completion date will be late summer 2016

Fog Sealing of City Streets
Crews will be fog sealing the following locations this week:
-Previously chip sealed streets north of Patterson Roam from 27 ½ Road to 29 ½ Road
-Variable message boards will be set up at each location giving advance notice
-Motorists are urged to take extra caution, drive slowly and allow additional space between vehicles to prevent stone chips from damaging windshields or paint
-Project anticipated to last until early September – weather permitting.

Street Striping
The following streets are scheduled to be striped this week, weather permitting:
- F ½ Road between 30 Road and Ox Bow Road
-D ½ Road between 29 Road and 30 Road
-Rimrock Avenue between Hwy 6&50 and Base Rock Street American Way between Hwy 6&50 and Base Rock Street
- Independent Avenue between 25 ½ Road and 1st Street
Traffic will be slowed as the machinery moves along. Please use caution.

Annual Fire Hydrant Flushing Program
-City crews will begin flushing hydrants Monday, August 29 and it’s anticipated to take two weeks to complete
-If you see hydrant flushing crews working in the area, please treat them like any other road construction crew and drive carefully.

--OUTSIDE OF THE CITY--
Hwy 50 Orchard Mesa Resurfacing Project – CDOT Project
-Crews will be making roadway repairs and repaving Hwy 50 between Pitkin Avenue and 29 Road
-Project will require lane shifts and closures throughout this 5 mile stretch of Hwy 50 in both directions – Expect travel delays
-Access will be maintained for local businesses and residents
-Work expected to last until September 2016

Hwy 340 (Broadway) Waterline Replacement Project – Ute Water Project
-Asphalt patching and final clean-up will be completed by mid-week from West Scenic Drive to just over a mile east
-Expect lane shifts, delays and a reduced speed limit.
-S. Broadway from Hwy 340 to Monument Road Waterline Replacement – Ute Water Project
-S. Broadway is closed to through traffic
-Please use alternate route
-Project will last through September.
