Three local dentists will host their third annual Free Dental Day in Grand Junction. The dental offices of Dr. Julie Gillis,

Dr. Kenneth Perino, and Dr. Duane Weenig will offer basic dental treatment to persons who are unable to otherwise afford dental care. Services will include oral cancer screenings, x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions.

Potential patients will be screened starting at 8 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2012, at the office of Dr. Weenig and Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the office of Dr. Gillis. Patients should arrive at 8 a.m., November 5^th to Dr. Weenig’s office located at 790 Wellington Ave. suite 205 or at 8 a.m., November 8^th at Dr. Gillis’s office located at 1190 Bookcliff Ave. unit 201.

This event is first come, first served, and we hope to limit treatment to people who are unable to otherwise afford dental care. Each patient will be offered one to two procedures and will be given specific appointment times and locations for their treatment. Treatment will be completed on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the offices of Dr. Gillis, Dr. Perino and Dr. Weenig.

Dr. Gillis thought of the idea for a Free Dental Day a couple of years ago. “I wanted a way to give back to this community which has given me so much. To offer even more services to more people, I enlisted the help of Dr. Perino, an oral surgeon, and Dr. Weenig, a periodontist, for our first Free Dental Day held September 2010. The decision was unanimous that we should repeat this service annually.” Dr. Gillis said.
