GRAND JUNCTION (KJCT)- This amendment on your ballot wants to fund community colleges with revenue from gambling.

The "limited gaming initiative" would allow voters in cities where gaming is allowed to extend the hours, the types of games and the maximum single bets.

If approved, 78% of additional revenue would go to Colorado's community colleges.

Those in favor say Colorado has the lowest bet limits in the country. They say the 17-year-old gaming law needs an update.

Opponents from groups like Keep Vegas Out say they're concerned about Colorado getting addicted to gambling money.

They say the amendment means money for community colleges will come mostly from gambling-- which is dangerous.

If voters approve Amendment 50 in November-there is still another step before the amendment passes. Next people living in gambling towns will vote on whether to pass it into law.
