DURANGO, Colo. (KJCT) - A Durango Police officer was fired Friday in part for a questionable posting on his personnel Myspace page, bringing the total to four officers let go for similar instances.

Christopher Mimmack, 40, was given the option to resign or be terminated, he apparently chose the latter, the Durango Herald is reporting.

Last month three other officers with the department said they were forced to resign because of content they posted on their Myspace pages. Some posted pictures of themselves in police uniforms alongside photos of them enjoying everyday life.

The Durango Police Department was unable to comment on the specifics of the case. But city officials told the Durango Herald "We're trying to maintain the high standards that (the public) has come to expect in the Durango Police Department," Durango City Manager said.

The officers that were let go said the photos that were posted on their Myspace page were tame and should have not resulted in their separation from the Durango Police Department.

One of the officers said they were treated unfairly. They claim "hardcore porn" was being sent via the city's email server, but everyone involved was given "amnesty."

In February, a directive was sent out to all on the force regarding "computer procedures." The directive states that no Durango officer can be displayed on any website without the chief's permission.

Mimmack is apparently looking into legal options with a lawyer.
