Vice President Cheney in Grand Junction

UPDATE: Vice President Dick Cheney touched down at Grand Junction Regional Airport around 11:00 Friday Morning. He deplaned Airforce 2 and headed to a fundraising event with Senate candidate Bob Schaffer. After the event Cheney and his motorcade returned to the airport around 1 p.m. and is currently headed to California for another fundraising event.

Vice President Dick Cheney spent a few hours in Grand Junction on Friday.

He attended a fundraising event for United State's Senate candidate Bob Schaffer.  Schaffer, a Republican, served three terms in the US Congress, representing Colorado's 4th District.

He is now running for the Senate against Democratic Congressman Mark Udall. Udall represents Colorado's 2nd Congressional District. Their race for the Senate is expected to be very competitive.  Local Republicans say they are very excited Schaffer will be getting some high profile support.

Cheney arrived around 11 Friday morning and then attend the fundraiser. It was held at a private home.  

The Vice President left Grand Junction about two-hours later.
