
Mesa County Sheriff's deputies are looking for the the person or persons responsible for stealing over $700 worth of diesel fuel over the weekend. According to employees of the Excel semi-truck driving school, the gas was stolen from a dirt parking lot on 29 and D roads leased to the driving school.
According to investigators the thieves used plastic hoses to siphon the gas out of the tanks. They noticed the empty tanks on Monday and say the gas was stolen sometime between Thursday and Sunday evenings.
Law enforcement believes they were targeted because of the remote location and lack of surveillance in the area.
