Earthquake in Western Colorado?

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) No damages or injuries are being reported after a minor earthquake rattled the small town of Paradox, near the Colorado-Utah border.

The U.S. Geological Survey says seismographs registered a magnitude two-point-eight earthquake at 7:46 on Wednesday morning. The quake clattered coffee cups and breakfast plates, but few other effects could be felt.

A Bureau of Reclamation official says work he and some employees were doing in the area may have triggered the temblor.

Facility operations specialist Andy Nicholas says his crew extracts brine groundwater from Dolores River aquifers, then injects it 14,000 feet into the ground to keep water flowing into the Colorado River from degrading.   Nicholas says he can't say for sure that his crew caused the quake.
