GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- The rocket in Grand Junction's Melrose Park has entertained thousands of kids over the last 4 decades.
It was taken down recently because of safety concerns.
Today, the 40 foot piece of playground equipment returned... creating quite the spectacle.
"We did some research and came up with some ideas of how we could maintain the rocket still in this location, and we are excited to turn it into an art piece," GJ Park and Rec Director Ron Schoeber said.
It took local mission control several hours, and three attempts...but the rocket landed safely. It now hovers over the planet Saturn...another aging piece of playground equipment.
