GRAND JUNCTION (KJCT)- Just who was searching for drug overdoses and deadly interactions over the Internet was the question in court on Wednesday.

Wednesday marked day five of the case against Miriam Helmick, the Whitewater woman accused of killing her husband Alan.

Investigator Mike Piechota with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office took to the stand again on Wednesday to testify about what he found on Miriam's computer.

Previously we heard from the prosecution that Alan Helmick was taking the prescription drug Ambien, a sleep aid. Investigator Piechota testified he found several searches on Miriam's computer involving overdoses of that medication.

The defense countered that these searches do not prove who exactly was on the computer looking at the search results.

We also heard from another investigator who scrutinized pages of cell phone records from Miriam and Alan. We found out their three cell phones were shut off due to an overdue bill just a month before Alan was killed.

Stay with KJCT News 8 for more on the case. We'll have a crew in the courtroom for the rest of this week.
