MONTROSE, Colo. (KJCT) -- A small, single-engine plane made an emergency landing in a Montrose neighborhood Wednesday morning. The plane touched down on North Park near 7th Street.
Local pilot Douglas Bargo was attempting to land at Montrose Regional when the plane experienced engine problems, reports The Montrose Daily Press.
Witnesses told KJCT the plane lost power, clipped a tree and dropped down to the street.
Neighbor Michelle Hines says she heard the plane fly over then a loud bang. "In a split second the plane was on the ground facing the other direction," she said, still shaken from the incident.
Hines, who works in the aviation industry, then called 911 and ran to the plane to see if she could assist. "The pilot was very responsive... it definitely was very scary."
The pilot suffered minor lacerations on his face and was treated and released from Montrose Memorial Hospital. Authorities are saying there were no serious injuries.
Investigators with NTSB were on scene. The wreckage was removed around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.
No damage has been reported to nearby structures at this time.
