Man gets 32 years in toddler's death

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- A Grand Junction man will spend 32 years in prison for causing the death of his girlfriend's toddler.

Charles Mceachern, 34, was sentenced in Mesa County Court Tuesday.

Mceachern plead guilty to child abuse resulting in the death of 3-year-old Miranda Baca in September.

The girl died in June of 2006 from blunt force trauma to the head.

Mceachern denied hurting her, but he was the only adult in the house when Miranda was hurt. He later said he may have inadvertently hurt her in a pillow fight.
