FRUITA, Colo. (KJCT) -- A Colorado State trooper was hit and injured on Highway 6/50 while investigating a separate crash.
The incident happened near 20 Road in Fruita around 8 Friday night.
Information is preliminary at this time, but we've been told the trooper was at the previous incident when a Chevy pick-up truck hit the trooper who was on foot.
The truck pulled over after the accident. The trooper was rushed to St. Mary’S Hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
The State Patrol says they do not believe any alcohol or drugs were involved. One witness told KJCT News 8 they were shaken up by what happened.
Highway 6/50 will remain closed from 21 road to 19 ½ road until accident reconstruction teams finish their investigation.
