Oregon State Hospital names chief medical officer

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The Oregon State Hospital has named a Colorado psychiatrist as chief medical officer.

Dr. Mark Diamond was chief of psychiatry at the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry at the Colorado Mental Health Institute of Pueblo, and is the former chief of psychiatry for the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Diamond has worked in forensic psychiatry since the 1990s, including the Sol Vista youth correctional facility in Pueblo, Colo., and at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

The 54-year-old Diamond succeeds Dr. Marvin Fickle, who retired as chief medical officer at the Oregon State Hospital in October 2007.

The pyschiatric hospital treats and manages patients convicted of crimes or who are considered a danger to themselves or others.
