CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - The live-in girlfriend of an Aurora man charged in the presumed death of his daughter says in a secretly recorded conversation that she asked God for forgiveness after the girl died in her sleep.
The recording of Shelley Lowe was played Thursday for jurors in the trial of Aaron Thompson.
Thompson is charged with fatal child abuse and other crimes against his daughter Aarone (AIR'-uh-nay).
Lowe was considered a "person of interest," but she died of heart failure in 2006 and was never charged.
Thompson reported Aarone missing in November 2005, when she would have been 6. She was never found. Authorities say she may have been dead for two years.
The conversation played in court was recorded in March 2006 with the help of a friend of Lowe's.
