DENVER (AP) - Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet says Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor (SUHN'-ya soh-toh-my-YOR') is a "bright and down-to-earth person" and that he'll support her confirmation.
Bennet, a Democrat, met with Sotomayor in Washington on Tuesday for about 25 minutes. Sotomayor has been meeting with senators since last week, keeping a busy pace despite breaking her ankle a day earlier before boarding a flight from New York to Washington.
Bennet says Sotomayor hasn't lost touch with how her day-to-day decisions impact people's lives despite her long tenure on the bench.
The White House is pressing for her quick confirmation. So far she's met one-third of the Senate in just four days of visits.
