The News Department of KJCT-TV in Grand Junction, on the "Western Slope of Colorado," has an immediate opening for a General Assignment Reporter/Photojournalist. Are you a reporter who loves getting unique angles that the competition can't touch? If so, this is the prime job for you.
Job Description:
Candidate must be able to creatively write, shoot and edit professional quality news stories. The reporter will interview subjects, and produce and edit packages for broadcast as assigned. In addition to packages, this position will deliver live segments on location, as well as provide debriefs/on-set live in the studio. We have two live trucks and expect our reporters to go live as much as possible. The individual must be willing to accept rotating on-call and weekend schedules as needed. The ideal candidate will also understand that this is a multi-platform industry now, and that website/social media skills are critical to this position and the success of the station. Candidate is expected to build a network of contacts in the area, which may feed exclusive content to our station. The ability to come to the table each day with a compelling story idea is a requirement of the job. Candidate must also be willing to work alongside a hard-working team of journalists dedicated to putting the best product possible on-air, and determined to work well together in a team atmosphere.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field. One year of news reporting, photography and editing experience is preferred; internships are considered valuable experience as well. Candidate must pass a drug test and background check.
