Absolute Dance of Grand Junction is proud to announce the upcoming presentation of Cinderella, a full-length ballet, as the studio's major performance for the Winter 2012-2013 season. Originally composed by Sergei Prokofiev and premiered at the Bolshoi Theater in Russia in 1945, Cinderella grew to become one of Prokofiev's most popular and melodious compositions, inspiring a great many choreographers since its inception. The jubilant music, lush scenery, comedic turns by the Stepsisters and classic fairy tale story of Cinderella meeting her Prince charming are just a few of the reasons why audiences have flocked to attend performances of Cinderella, the ballet, for so many years.
Anthony Noa, Ballet Master at Absolute Dance, is the choreographer and director of this inspired adaptation, which features 60 dancers who were cast via audition in September, and more than 100 eye-catching costumes. Mr. Noa has worked professionally in the field of dance for more than 30 years all over the United States and abroad, dancing and working with such companies as the Serbian National Theater, the Berlin Ballet, and Ballet Austin, among others. He has worked with iconic choreographers George Balanchine and Rudolf Nureyev, and now brings his artistry, experience, and creative vision to the Grand Valley's performing arts community.
Cinderella will be presented at the Montrose Pavilion in Montrose, Colorado, on Friday January 18th at 7:30pm, Saturday January 19th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday, January 20th at 2:00pm.
